10 Minute Solution: Blast Off Belly Fat is one of the hottest UK fitness DVDs. The American instructor Suzanne Bowen is very down to earth and affable, but also clear and professional.
The popular 10 Minute Solutions fitness series is based on the premise that everyone can come up with at least 10 minutes per day for a workout, and this DVD contains five of these 10-minute routines. You can do them one at a time, or mix and match, or even do all five in one session. Even at only 10 minutes, each routine has a mini warm up and cool down, which is important--if you're stringing the workouts together this can be annoying though, constantly slowing down the intensity.
Basically--if it's a choice between this or no exercise, do this, but you really should be doing more to get maximum benefits. Four out of five of these routines aren't cardio workouts, which is really the best way to exercise to lose weight (or "blast off belly fat" as this DVD's stated goal proclaims). On any exercise routine your body won't start burning fat reserves until you've been working out 20-25 minutes, and 10 minutes simply isn't enough time.
There have been criticisms about the rather boring music, but people's tastes differ, and most users seem to be fine with it. Likewise, some people note that despite the belly/abs focus, some of these exercises are very tough on the arms, shoulders, and back , so you should have a baseline of strength in those areas if you're going to try this DVD.
Content: There are five 10-minute sections, for 50 minutes of total content which can be mixed and matched as desired:
- Flat Belly Fast -- quick abs work
- Pilates Perfect Abs -- strengthens your core (most reviewers rate this section the best)
- Belly Fat Blaster - short cardio section to blast fat around your stomach
- Ab Ripper - mixture of different Ab exercises to tone your tummy
- Six Pack Abs - lots of ab crunching exercises
Prices: The 10 Minute Solution: Blast Off Belly Fat DVD retails for £9.99, but you can get it much cheaper on Amazon for around a mere £4.98. This is among the cheapest fitness DVDs you can get, but keep in mind there is only 50 minutes of content on the disc, so some of the pricey titles with more content may actually have be better overall value.
